Live translation for lectures and classes

In the lecture

Place the phone where it hears the lecturer, on the desk or near the front. The translated transcript keeps going without stopping the class for you. Because the original stays under each translated line, you also see how the lecturer said it, which helps when you are learning the language of the course.

Course vocabulary is where general translation goes wrong. Paste the glossary from the course page, or upload the lecture notes, and All Voices suggests terms to recognise: names, formulas spoken as words, technical terms. You accept the ones you want, and they apply in every session.

Live captions also help in your own language, when the room is noisy or an accent is hard to follow.

Seminars, office hours and group work

• Seminars and group work. Each speaker is labelled automatically, so a discussion between six students stays readable. Languages are identified line by line, so a group that switches languages needs no setting.
• Office hours. When you and the lecturer speak different languages, All Voices can interpret both ways and read the translation aloud, so the conversation runs in both directions.

Revising

• Find the exact moment. Search the transcripts of all your sessions for the word you half remember, then replay that line in the lecturer’s voice.
• The summary of what was taught. When the session ends, All Voices writes a summary with the key points and open questions, in the language you choose. Rough notes you typed in class are merged into it.
• Ask the meeting. Put a question to the saved lecture, such as "What did she say counts in the exam?". Each answered question uses one minute of your balance.
• Take it with you. Download the report as Word or PDF, with the transcript in both languages.

For lecturers

International students can follow your lecture on their own phones. Run All Voices on your laptop or phone, open the session to an audience, and show the QR code on a slide. Students choose their language and read captions or listen with earphones. They need no app and no account, and they pay nothing; their time comes out of your hours.

• Up to ten languages per session, chosen by the students; spoken translation in up to three of them.
• A student can raise a hand and ask in their own language. When you allow it, the translation is spoken to you and to listeners who read another language.
• After class you have the transcript and the summary to share by link, in the language each reader chooses.

What it costs

Students pay for their own sessions: one hour of lecture uses one hour of prepaid time. The small pack is $9 for 6 hours; $19 buys 30 hours, about twenty 90-minute lectures. Study support, not an official accommodation

Follow your campus recording rules and ask the lecturer first. Verify material that affects an exam, a safety instruction or a formal submission. Students who need an official accommodation, such as live captioning or sign language interpreting, should ask their university’s disability or accessibility service. Live text needs an internet connection; if it drops, All Voices keeps the recording while it reconnects.
